My New Favorite Band

So, it has been a long while since I posted. What with my busy life and all, I've neglected my blog. But now I've come across a story so funny that I just can't help but tell you guys about it.

So today I was helping my cross country coach "correct papers" during P.E. and I got on her computer and was messing with Wikipedia. Then I decided to look up my name. Among other things, there was an article about a band formed in the 90's. Can you guess the name?

Lo and Behold! A band by the name of Tanner! Same exact spelling and everything! So, as of now this band is my new favorite, even though there music sucks. I listened to one song and it was dumb. They have a bunch of weird named songs, like the one I listened too: "Spastic Art". And their website is covered in roaches.

I put the link to their website up on my blog, so if you want to check it out. The story of their band is on there and it's kinda funny. Hope you get as much laughs out of it as I did.

Howdy Yall!

Hey what's happening my avid blog readers? I know I haven't written in a while so, here is the great story of our family vacation. This past week our family took a few days to our selfs and went to newport beach for a few days. It was great! We stayed in a hotel for once, so that was nice to not be in a tent. We spent most of our time at the beach. Playing games, swimming, talking, and having some good family bonding! We ate at in n' out our first night there and on the way home. The night before we left we went to california pizza kitchen, which was delicious. My dad and I split some pesto pasta and bbq chicken pizza. mmmm..... It was good!
So that was a good summary of our vacation! I will try to keep up for the school year and have the blog updated as much as possible.

EFY

This past week Porter, Logan, Mason, Cooper, and I all went to Utah for a week of efy. It was amazingly fun! It was also a great spiritual experience. I felt the spirit very strongly on Thursday. We had a musical program that I participated in. I feel that music is the best way for me to feel the spirit. It really gets me right in the heart.
So we went to efy and had a great time, met ladies, made friends, and laughed a Cooper's funniness. Coming back, we had a surprise wating for us at the house. My dad had stayed home and installed wood floors in most of our house. It looks amazing and Mom was thrilled! I really like them as well. I got a new matress to! Now there isn't a hard lump in my back while I try to go to sleep. It is great!
That's about it for this week. Leave comments, send emails, and keep in touch!

The Triathlon and Other Things

All righty. About two Saturdays ago, my dad, Uncle Nathan, and I ran a triathlon. It was down at Lake Meing and we had an awesome time. Well, I did. I don't know about the other two. They seemed like they suffered through it. Anyway, just so you get an idea of how weird our weather is down here, that Saturday was a scorcher! It was over 100 degrees! Now, it's overcast, windy, and this morning I wished I was wearing a jacket. So I did the sprint triathlon, which is a half mile swin, a 12 mile bike, and a 3 mile run. I finished it in about an hour and thirty minuets. I sat in the lake for a few minuets after and was good by the end of the day. Of course I took a nap from like four thirty to eight when I got home. It was exhausting! But still very fun.

Well, schools over now. Hallelujia! This summer is going to be wicked awesome. Cross country is running all the way through summer, so I'll have something to do with my time. I am going to have a lot of fun this summer I know it! Hope you all have a very good summer as well.

Lost season finale tonight! This is going to be wicked awesome as well. I can already tell that today is going to be the best last day of school ever.

Lastly, I pledge my alligence to Cooper in the Battle of the Blogs. I shall hoist his flag high on my blog, with pride and dignety. If you've seen Porter/Garrett's flag, you'll know why.

What in the world is up with Tanner?

Howdy yall. Been so busy I forgot about my little blog. So here's whats up with me.
Triathlon coming up this Saturday. I'm going to kick some serious behind! Not even joking.

About 2 thursdays ago, my dad, Porter, Garrett, and I went and saw Brian Regan at the Fox Theatre. It was hilarious. Thursday is always my comedy night, usually with the office. Watching it the next day I relized it didn't even compare in funniness. At Brian Regan, I went in full and left hungry I laughed so hard. I think I burned calories laughing!

Swimming season's over. For me anyway. I ended it the same thursday as Regan. I went out with a bang of stupidity. On the 100 free, I was up on the block, rarin to go! I could of sworn the starter was just waiting for some one to do what I did. I jumped after on your mark, into the pool. Every other meet they gave you a second chance and let you swim the event. But the one time I mess up, the DQ you the first time. Ah well.

About a week before this I ran for secretary at my school. I figured there'd only be me and one other girl running. That was until the Friday before elections that I found out some other people were running. One girl I didn't know was running until the day of! And just so you know, there was another guy running. So I gave my speech. I took a few pointers from Dwight and pounded my fists and waved my arms. It was great. If people weren't friends with the other candidates I probably would have on too. Once again with the Ah well.

That's about it from me. Have a nice life.

A Post Without a Title

Hello my avid blog readers. Things are pretty much the same in my life. Seminary, School, Swim, and Church. However, there are two things I would like to tell you about.

As a lot of you know, the Bakersfield triathlon is coming up in May. So, my dad helped me get used to my bike shoes yesterday. The bike shoes clip into the pedal to allow easier pedaling. This makes it so you have to take the shoes out of the pedal to stop. This is what I practiced yesterday. We went for a while with me only falling once, but still not being able to stop correctly. This is about when I fell for the second time. To relive some stress, I just laid on the ground while my kind loving father stood laughing at me. As he came over to help me up, he fell for the second time in his life. This has come to be one of the funniest memories I have. Me and my dad laying in the middle of the street just laughing our heads off.

Today, Porter had a BYC meeting and my mom was cleaning up her nursrey. All the kids my age from our ward had long gone home. This is when I decided to go visit my friends from seminary in the Olive Knolls ward. They were just starting their sunday school lesson. Sister Simpson taught the class. We learned about Jacob in the Book of Mormon and how he was chosen to write about the spirtual doings of his people. I thought Jacob would be a pretty cool guy. It was a great class. So, Sister Simpson challenged us to write in our journals. And it turns out she's seen grandma and grandpa's blog. She thought that the family blogging thing was pretty cool. So to fufill the challenge of writing in my journal, which I consider to be my blog, I wrote in my blog today.

Well see you people around,
Tanner

More Updates on My Life

Well, weeks have gone by with out a word from me. I have finally crawled out from out of my rock to start posting some more facts of my life. I hope you enjoy it.

Two weeks ago I began going to our Ward Choir. I have been enjoying it emensly. To quote my father "Ther's nothing better than singing a hymn on a Sunday afternoon." Brother Pothier is the director of our choir. He is great. I have been singing base. The singing is one of the rare things that always brings the spirit to me.

On Friday, I baby sat for one of my home teaching families. The kids were great and I actually had a lot of fun. They really like me and behaved very well. It also gave the parents a chance to go out on a date. They were greatly appreciative and I was glad to give them the opportunity to get out of the house.

On Thursday, our team had a swim meet. One of the other schools didn't have a JV team, so for me it was mostly just our school against our school. I swam breast stroke for the first time this season in our medly relay. We placed first in this. I then swam the 50 free and took second, only 3 seconds behind the same kid on our team that beat me last time. I swam it in a 30 flat.
I swam the 100 free next and once again took second. I felt like I did good. Our team also did a 400 free relay. We dominated this because we were the only guy team swiming. It was a good meet.

Now, as of today, the video game Super Smash Bros. Brawl was released. Finally! After three delays this game is out. I have been waiting since November to get this game. I preordered it yesterday and should get it some time this week. Now I just need to get an internet hook up so I can play the Coontz clan. I assume you guys are getting this game right?

Bye for now,
Tanner

Disney Land and Swimming

About two weeks ago, we went to disney land as a family. It was pretty great, plus it was on a Wednesday and we got to get out of school. I slept all the way to disney land and started off nice and refreshed. There wasn't many people there, and thanks to the Ridemax Ride schedule planner, we got maximum ride time. Especially after 3:00. It started to rain and did not let up for more then ten minuets. I tell ya, every one and their kids' buzz lightyear doll left. Leaving the lines open for us to ride Indiana Jones and Pirates twice and Space Mountain six times. The only bad part was I had holes in my shoes and my feet got soaked! I was dead tired at the end of the day, and slept the whole way home.

Starting this week, our swim team has been in the pool. I feel like the summer swim team was like AYSO and now I've moved up to a hard core team. It has been pretty rough. One day I fell asleep on my bed when I told myself I would only lay there for a few minuets. Yeah right. I've been told multiple times that I looked like I was going to pass out.

There's some updates on my life. Cool deal.

Hoping you're doing well,
Tanner

Longboarding

This last Friday, I went long boarding out at the east side of Bakersfield with my friends The Brothers Barry. All though some of you like to make fun of certain people for their liking of long boarding, I think you should try it before you start making fun of people. It is very very fun. I can't even describe how fun it is.

We went to the country club and went down Country Club Dr. a couple of times. Me being the rookie, I was nervous. It was a pretty big hill. However, I went down it with out any major problems. Long boarding gives you an adrenaline rush unlike any other. Well, I suppose that other sports that I am not good at or haven't tried give you the same rush. Like snowboarding, skiing, surfing, stuff like that.

It was Nick Barry's last time before he left on his mission, so now me and Chad need find some one to take us over to East Side. Oh well.

I added some more music today. Mostly Cake.

Hope you're doing great,
Tanner

My goals for 2008

2008 is to be looked at as a good year. But, to make it look good, I have many goals I am going to set nows.

  1. No drinking soda. Just for the year, but maybe longer.
  2. Do a Sprint length triathlon
  3. If feeling ready, do a full distance triathlon. This will replace number 2 if so needed.
  4. Study scripture more.
  5. End school with a 4.0 gpa.
  6. Be a little more toned down during class time.
  7. Say please and thank you every time I ask for something or am given something.
  8. Go longboarding.
  9. Try high school swimming.
  10. Ride my bike more.

Well, now you know all the dark things in my life I will try to change in the next year.

Have a nice life,

Tanner
